The Wild Rose's Growth

The Growth of a Wild Rose, also known as A Wild Rose Won’t Be His Shadow

The year her family was destroyed, Zhang Jiu fell from the clouds into the mud.

Abandoned by her relatives and deceived by her childhood sweetheart, she suffered a miscarriage, drifted alone to the north, and barely scraped by in an internet cafe.

With nowhere else to turn, she went to work as a nanny for Shen Yan, a recent widower with an infant.

He was aloof and taciturn, treating her with distant courtesy.

One drunken night, they crossed the line. He left money behind, cold and cruel.

“Just this once. Don’t get any ideas.”

She understood. She was just a comfort for his loneliness, a shadow kept out of sight.

He wanted her body, not her heart. No responsibility, no acknowledgment.

Later, his sister-in-law tried to seduce him, and his whole family pressured him to marry her. He silently agreed.

Zhang Jiu packed her things and slipped away without a word.

This time, she wouldn’t make a scene, hold a grudge, or look back.

When they met again, she was dazzling and independent, striding confidently forward.

But his eyes turned red as he blocked her path.

“I was wrong. Come home with me.”

Zhang Jiu looked up at him coolly.

“Mr. Shen, I’m not your toy.”
