The storyline between Qi Yan, called Qi Min in the drama, and Yu Qianqian, called Yu Qianqian in the drama, in Chasing Jade left a deep impression on many readers and viewers with its intense forceful romance and the tension of tragic beauty. What makes their story so moving is not only its backdrop of political intrigue, but also the sense of destiny between the leads, impossible to erase even through forgetfulness, and the heroine’s clear-eyed independence as someone who transmigrated into this world. This book mainly follows Qi Yan and Yu Qianqian’s first meeting, Qianqian’s hatred for him, and the domineering possession of Qianqian by the unhinged big shot.
