Death Prescription

Chu Yuheng, an expert in forensic toxicology, has a rare gift for detecting the slightest physiological clues. He can spot abnormal pupil contractions, irregular pulses in the veins, and microscopic tremors in muscle fibers that everyone else overlooks. With eyes that can see beyond life and death, he uncovers an inexplicable truth during a bizarre autopsy.

On the autopsy table, a victim whose heart had stopped beating two hours earlier suddenly shows faint electrical activity. Hidden inside the body are a thin fluorescent blue filament and a microscopic letter code. When a second and then a third corpse appear in the same uncanny manner, Chu Yuheng realizes this is more than a serial murder case. It is a carefully orchestrated medical experiment.

As the investigation deepens, his suspicions turn to his father, Chu Jianguo, the legendary surgeon who “died” in a lab accident five years ago. His father’s dying prophecy begins to come true: “The ultimate frontier of medicine lies in whether we can control the process of death.” To Chu Yuheng’s shock, his father faked his death and founded a biotech company, using Renxin Clinic to secretly carry out an “artificial death program.” With CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing technology, it precisely controls the dying process of specific groups of people.

From the autopsy table to the laboratory, from the clinic’s hidden chambers to a biotech empire, Chu Yuheng must draw on everything he has learned to face off against the man he once revered and must now bring to an end with his own hands. Their ultimate confrontation unfolds on the shifting boundary between morality and science. This struggle over life and death, human nature and ethics, science and madness is only just beginning.
