History books of later generations would call that day “The Day the Era Ended.”
The year 2026, the Year of the Fire Horse, the first day of the lunar new year.
Without warning or explanation, gray-white mist surged from deep within the earth, from fissures in the ocean, and from every shadowy corner. It spread across the planet within twenty-four hours, swallowing everything in its path.
It was not fog.
It was “Erosion,” an unknown force capable of dissolving steel, corrupting life, and distorting reality. Wherever the Erosion Mist passed, electronic devices failed, and everything modern civilization had once prided itself on crumbled within seventy-two hours. Worse still, monsters emerged from the mist. They came in all shapes and forms: some resembled rotting humans, some were beasts pieced together from different creatures, and some defied description altogether. They shared only one trait: an insatiable hunger to devour all life.
Humanity fell from the top of the food chain and became prey, no better than ants beneath a hunter's feet.
Despair lasted seven days.
Then, at dawn on the eighth day, a beam of light pierced the mist in the heart of the land of Huaxia.
It was no light born of technology, but of civilization. In the face of utter despair, an ancient protection engraved in the bloodline and etched into the mountains and rivers had awakened. A colossal dome of light, founded upon the legendary Imperial Jade Seal and formed from a vast array spanning 9.6 million square kilometers, rose slowly, from east to west and from north to south.
It was called the Yanhuang Light Dome.
Within the dome, the Erosion Mist receded, the laws of the world briefly returned to normal, and civilization could catch its breath.
Beyond the dome, the mist still raged and monsters roamed a living hell.
The world had been split in two. Huaxia had become the only refuge in the Dark Age
