A Century of Human Life on Maoshan

On North Town Street at the foot of Mount Mao, a young man named Yuan Qinghe witnesses the suffering of ordinary people with his own eyes and vows to become someone capable.

In 1937, the Japanese invaders arrive. He becomes a disciple of Master Huidao of Mount Mao, learns the skills he needs, saves the people, and bears witness to a century of change. From the War of Resistance to liberation, from reform and opening up to the new century, he sees nearly a hundred years pass before his eyes.

This is the story of a Daoist priest, the story of Mount Mao, and, above all, the story of ordinary people.

Little Ghost Beach, Tingyun Teahouse, Liu the Coffin Maker, Wang Laosan, Crooked Barber, Chen the Old Tofu Seller... people from every walk of life, peddlers and laborers, the everyday affairs of families, and love and hatred.

Mount Mao's old goose, kudzu powder, cordyceps flower, chestnuts, and wild boar. The people and events of those years all live within this story, A Century of Mortal Life on Mount Mao.

Tell every story well, and do right by every reader.
