Twelve years after the disaster, a young man crawled out of the Gray Realm, carrying a stopped pocket watch, and walked into the "Scavenger" team at the bottom of District 5. From then on, a wasteland legend about survival, dignity and redemption began.
In 2135, a fungal virus called "Rust" broke out across the world, causing crops to fail and cities to fall. After the collapse of the coalition government, the remaining humans established twelve "survivor settlement areas" (referred to as "areas") under the leadership of the military, using high walls and firepower to isolate outside infections.
Outside District 12 is a lawless place called the "Grey Zone" - where infected people, fugitives, scavengers, and all those who are unwilling or unable to enter the settlements roam. There are no rules, no mercy, only one iron law: live or die.
Twelve years have passed, and there has been no peace within District 12. Resources are extremely scarce - clean drinking water is rationed by the milliliter, expired military cans are hard currency, and a box of antibiotics can buy a life. Each district has gradually formed an independent separatist force, and the fifth district where the protagonist is located is a gathering place for low-class immigrants, deserters, and laborers. It is chaotic, dirty, but full of barbaric vitality.
Here, there are no laws, only rules. The rules are written on the wall and on the handle of the gun.
