In 1952, in order to save his sick brother, Lin Shiyi, a gangster, recognized gangster Guo Zhaohua as his godfather. After working hard for ten years, what I got in return was being pushed out to take the blame. Three years in prison made him see clearly that so-called kindness was just use. On Emperor Guan's birthday in 1963, he took out the evidence of his godfather's crime in public, paid the debt with blood, and became the new owner of Kowloon Walled City.
Great changes of the times followed one after another - the ICAC storm, the demolition of the Walled City, and the return of Hong Kong. He transformed from a gangster to a legitimate businessman, sent away Sister Feng, whom he had been with for half his life, and watched his brother wither away. In 2015, 76-year-old Lin Shiyi passed away peacefully in the sunset in a nursing home.
This is a legend about a small person's rebellion against fate, and it is also a folk epic of Hong Kong's colonial era.
