In the spring of 1980, the state-owned Shuguang Farm in Northeast China. Eighteen-year-old Lin Xiaoman replaced her late father and became the only female tractor driver. On the first day of construction, Dongfanghong fell into a mud pit. Among the onlookers stood Shen Zhiyuan, an agricultural machinery engineer who had been decentralized and renovated.
No one thinks highly of this "girl movie". The male pilot deliberately refused to give him diesel, so she walked thirty miles to carry the fuel back, and completed a hundred-acre plow alone on a rainy night. Shen Zhiyuan "left" the German drawings in her tool box and taught her mechanical English, and she took him to explore the soil. In the smell of engine oil and earth, two marginalized hearts gradually get closer.
During the farm reform in 1982, Lin Xiaoman contracted the tractor farming team and became a female manager. Shen Zhiyuan designed a family tractor to help her overcome the crisis. In the same year, he was rehabilitated and returned to Beijing to take up a post, but first accompanied her to complete the wheat harvest. We have been in a long-distance relationship for three years. During the correspondence, he sent foreign journals and she sent black soil samples.
In 1984, when the research and development of the combine harvester was launched, Lin Xiaoman came to Beijing as a "front-line consultant" and encountered academic discrimination. The prototype test failed, so she insisted on going back to Northeast China for field testing and found that the design was out of touch with the actual situation in the black land. After a long talk late at night, we decided on "independent research and development" and the farm improvement was successful.
In 1985, national model worker Lin Xiaoman came to Beijing to give a speech, and Shen Zhiyuan presided over the technical appraisal. At the wedding, Dongfanghong served as the wedding car, and Mailang served as a companion. Later, he founded the "Black Earth Agricultural Machinery" brand.
Shen Zhiyuan's diary in his later years: "I transformed the land, and she transformed me." This is a story of iron and clay, books and plows, and people who step on the soil forging each other.
