Journey to the West: I’ll Break This Deadlock for My Brother

I am the first disciple of Patriarch Bodhi, Sun Wukong's eldest senior brother, and the only one who saw through the deadly trap of the Journey to the West in advance.

The Heavenly Court bestowed the title Great Sage Equal to Heaven on him as a trap disguised as praise. The Tathagata imprisoned him beneath Five Elements Mountain to wear down his rebellious spirit. The Eighty-One Tribulations were never a journey to save all living beings. They were a deal struck by the gods and Buddhas of the heavens: his defiance would buy Buddhism a foothold in the east, and his life would buy the Heavenly Court peace.

But I intend to overturn this game.

He wants to wreak havoc in the Heavenly Palace? I'll hold off the hundred thousand heavenly soldiers for him. He wants to storm the underworld? I'll erase his name from the Book of Life and Death. The Tathagata wants to keep him imprisoned for five hundred years? He'll have to ask whether the sword in my hand agrees!

What do I care about Buddhahood in the Western Heaven, or the rules of the Three Realms? Nothing matters more to me than hearing my junior brother call me “Eldest Senior Brother.”

The gods and Buddhas of the heavens owe him a world where he can roam free. I, Wei Guangyuan, will make them repay every last debt!
