Great Tang's Daddy: Old Li Climbs the Wall to Sneak a Meal

In the third year of Zhenguan, Chu Ye transmigrates to the Tang dynasty and settles down at a secluded farmstead beneath Zhongnan Mountain. Along the way, he takes in a forgetful little girl with breathing problems who calls herself “Xiao Sizi.”

With time on his hands, Chu Ye raises a mutated white tiger, makes barbecue and hot pot, and tinkers with glass and erguotou, feeding Xiao Sizi until she becomes a food-loving little miser who fiercely guards her snacks.

Then one day, a couple claiming to be merchants, “Old Li and his wife,” wander onto the farm.

The sight of the mighty white tiger makes Old Li's legs go weak, while the sizzling squid on the iron griddle has him swallowing greedily.

Old Li: “Shopkeeper Chu, could I have a bite of that barbecue? I'll pay you in gold!”

Xiao Sizi shields the barbecue with both arms and says in her babyish voice, “No, no! Grandpa says these are lamb skewers, and they're Xiao Sizi's. Even if you pay, she won't sell them!”

Later, more and more diners come to the farm.

A chubby fellow called Old Cheng rolls around on the ground just to snatch a bite of pan-fried buns. A stubborn old man called Old Wei takes one sip of erguotou and declares that he could die happy.

Then one day, Old Li suddenly arrives with thousands of troops and reveals the truth: “Chu Ye, I'm actually Li Shimin! If you give Xiao Sizi back to me, I'll marry Princess Changle to you as well!”

Chu Ye's face is full of question marks. “??? You come sneaking over the wall every day to mooch food, and now you want to steal my daughter and make a move on me too?”
