After escaping the palace, Shangguan Qian plots to kill Dian Zhu. Exhausted, she falls off a cliff and plunges into a raging river. She transmigrates into the world of the TV drama Twenty-Four Strategies of Chang'an, where Xie Huai'an, a registrar in Huainan, saves her. Xie Huai'an suspects her identity and remains on guard, while Shangguan Qian pretends to be a widowed woman in dire straits and settles in Huainan. Gradually, they come to trust each other. She later joins Xie Huai'an's revenge plan, and as they carry it out, they slowly help each other heal.
