Divorced with a Child, I Caught the Eye of a Powerful Executive

I stopped the new big boss in the hallway.

He looked at me for three seconds and asked, “What’s your name?”

I thought I was about to be told to write a self-criticism.

The next day, the transfer order came: I became his liaison.

Everyone in the office said I’d hit the jackpot.

Only I knew that the way that man looked at me wasn’t how a boss looked at a subordinate.

It was as if he were waiting.

Waiting for me to realize on my own that he’d had his eye on me for a long time.
