The Great Yong Record of Treasures

My master is dead. There’s cinnabar beneath his fingernails, and the soles of his shoes are clean.

My martial uncle is dead too. Someone shoved his bloodstained clothes through the crack beneath the door, yet he was dressed in a new robe for burial.

My martial uncle’s widow handed me a copper coin. The character “Qian” was engraved on its reverse.

It was a life-buying coin from the Qian Sect. I was certain to die within seven days.

My name is Shen Yi, an apprentice at the Qiuzhen Studio in the capital.

The seal my master left behind has four characters engraved on it:

“Heaven’s Judgment Is Here.”
