Pokemon: The Champion Who Wants Nothing to Do with the League

[No System, native-born protagonist, not reborn, no heroine]

When Jiang Ping was ten, he lost everything.

His parents died in service, his inheritance was seized, and his Starter Pokémon were swapped out for dead eggs. Those people smiled and said, “We’ll keep them safe for you,” then took it all.

Only an old brooch survived, a gift from his mother. It was worthless, so no one wanted it.

Jiang Ping was driven out of Kanto and fled to Hoenn. With nothing to his name, he spent ten years waiting for five partners willing to entrust their lives to him.

At twenty, he returned to Kanto, defeated the reigning Champion, and claimed the throne.

But he never set foot in the League.

“It’s not that I don’t trust the League,” he said. “I don’t trust the people in it.”

The world calls him the “Two-King Champion,” because in his title defenses, he uses only Salamence and Gallade.

No one knows that three more Champion-level Pokemon live in his shadow: Gengar, Lucario, and Charizard.

They are waiting. Waiting for the day he needs them.

And that day is coming soon.

The Legendary Pokémon are stirring, and darkness is closing in. His old enemies, former overlords, and even the dark side of the Creator God will all stand before him.

On the balcony of a seaside cottage, Jiang Ping looks down at the old brooch on his chest.

It lights up.

“Mom, lend me a little strength.”
