"Damn, I'm hungry again."
Wei Jiu huddled in the shadow of the outer wall of the "Black Stone Sanctuary", his messy hair hanging down, just covering his dark and scary eyes. In his arms he held a broken bowl with a chipped opening, and the bowl was as empty as his belly.
In this damn weather, the wind felt like a knife on the face, and the yellow sand rolled up could bury someone alive.
The Blackstone Shelter is one of the largest gathering places in this wasteland. The towering metal walls separate the inside and the outside into two worlds. Outside the wall are mutated creatures and hungry wanderers; inside the wall are order, food, and those who think they are superior to others.
A group of guards wearing exoskeleton armor walked out of the gate, menacingly. The captain at the head had a hideous scar on his chin, and he saw Wei Jiu in the corner at a glance.
"You're the beggar again, why aren't you dead yet?" Scarface spat, and the spit almost flew into Wei Jiu's broken bowl.
Wei Jiu didn't move or even raise his eyelids.
If you argue with this kind of people, your price will drop. Besides, he is a beggar now, and a beggar must act like a beggar. Professional ethics, do you understand?
"Captain, ignore him, a stinky beggar won't survive tonight." A small guard next to him said flatteringly.
Scarface snorted, feeling that it was really pointless to vent his anger on a beggar, so he went on patrol with his men.
Several wanderers around who were also waiting for the opportunity to enter the city looked at Wei Jiu with eyes full of contempt and a hint of schadenfreude. In this apocalyptic world, beggars are at the bottom of the food chain and are even more looked down upon than mutant rats.
Wei Jiu felt no disturbance in his heart.
