The Sparrow's Scheme

[The Resilient Chancellor’s Daughter × The Dark, Unhinged Emperor]

Abduction and possession | Intense love | A touch of angst

In the sixth year of Hongyong,

the Chancellor’s entire household was confiscated,

yet Emperor Xie Yuan issued an imperial decree that stunned the court and the country,

naming Jiang Wan, the daughter of a convicted traitor, empress.

Everyone said the new emperor meant to imprison this guilty woman in the harem

and torment her day and night.

Jiang Wan thought so too.

But one day,

Xie Yuan held her tightly, the corners of his eyes red, and pleaded in a hoarse voice, “Wan’er, could you try to love me?”

“What a love story to envy. Your Majesty has left the woman you love most to come to this bleak, dilapidated place and keep me company, a criminal no less… Could it be that Your Majesty has taken a liking to me?” Jiang Wan curled her lips, her eyes full of allure.

Xie Yuan stared at her, his dark eyes inscrutable. He narrowed them disdainfully, then suddenly gave a low laugh. “I can take a liking to anyone, except you.”

Jiang Wan laughed softly too, her gaze brimming with mockery. “Is that so? Then… why didn’t Your Majesty simply let those four guards violate me just now? Why did you save me?”

Xie Yuan narrowed his dark eyes. Like the night of a storm, he looked sinister and terrifying.

He lifted her chin, tightening his grip.

“From the sound of it, you rather wanted those four men to violate you. Did I ruin your fun?”

“If my beloved consort regrets missing out, I can send men to attend to you right now.”

Jiang Wan smiled, meeting his gaze. She refused to yield, speaking each word clearly: “…I thank Your Majesty for your kindness. That would suit my wishes perfectly.”
