[Historical Romance + Dual Transmigration + Bickering Couple + Sweet Romance + Growth + Light Ensemble Cast + Political Scheming and Nation-Building]
Chu Zhaozhao transmigrates into the body of a refugee in ancient times and is assigned as a wife to a poor scholar. But he can't even scrape together half a coin, so she has to pay to marry him herself.
Looking at the ramshackle house, she grits her teeth and boasts, “I can punch a cow to death!”
The scholar smiles and fans himself. “Indeed, my wife is formidable!”
As it turns out, the scholar has transmigrated too. The pair go from bickering and trading jabs to becoming partners who protect each other, and their lives gradually improve amid all the teasing.
Everyone around them has their own entanglements: Guan Xiaotang secretly harbors feelings for Chu Tianchen, who is more than happy to accept them. Chu Ling'er wants to raise ten bodyguards, only for Mu Yeyu to coolly tell her, “One is enough.”
As everyone argues over making money and building up the country, they catch the attention of the imperial court. The officials urge the pair to take the throne, but Chu Zhaozhao grabs Xu Changqing and waves them away. “Do not disturb us, we're lying flat~~~” The others all refuse as well.
