The Road to the Underworld Is So Cold, Yet My First Love Won’t Let Me Go

[Ancient-Era Romance + Past and Present Lives + Devoted Hero + Angsty Romance and Healing]

Ye Qinghuan lived a lonely, miserable life. After her death, she set off alone on the road to the underworld. The windblown sand stung her eyes, yet in a humble teahouse by the roadside, she saw the one person she would recognize even if he had turned to ash. He was much thinner than she remembered, and his brow was weighed down by an unshakable sorrow. It turned out that after his death, he refused to be reincarnated or drink Granny Meng's soup. He stubbornly waited on this road that everyone had to take, even as his spirit grew weaker by the day, just so he could see her when she arrived. He said, “This time, I'll accompany you through the final stretch. I won't lose you again.” In this place between the worlds of the living and the dead, they rekindle their old love, and he uses the last of his spiritual power to shield her from the cold and darkness along the way. This final journey is one of waiting and protection. Though tragic and beautiful, it is warm enough to bring comfort to the entire frigid underworld.
