Synopsis
A God of Calamity descends upon the mortal world; one cold glance flashes like thunder.
Zhuang Ran is a transmigrator and the son of the magistrate of Haitang County. He brought no System with him when he transmigrated, so he took life easy. With his childhood sweetheart Yi Nan by his side, he had a pretty comfortable life.
Until one morning, he pushed open the Yi family’s gate. The whole household lay dead. Only Yi Nan was still breathing, sprawled in a pool of blood. None of the county’s doctors could help. A wandering old Daoist arrived and took her pulse for a long while. “Her soul is wounded. The fact that she’s still alive is a miracle.” The old Daoist offered no explanation. He merely taught Zhuang Ran a set of boxing techniques, then drifted away.
Zhuang Ran knelt at the doorway, watching the old man’s figure disappear. He didn’t know what had happened that night, why Yi Nan was in this state, or how many secrets heaven and earth concealed. He knew only one thing: she had to wake up.
Over the many years that followed, he traveled from Haitang County to the northern frontier, to the Divine Ruins, and onward to lands farther still. He saw mountain ranges where demon clans lived stretch above the clouds, and fragments of stars fall amid ancient ruins. He met others who had been reincarnated: some rose to greatness in a single step, while others faded into obscurity. He simply kept walking, crossing mountains when he came to them and wading through rivers when they stood in his way.
He didn’t know that the one who had fallen from the sky that night was a mighty demon, who had helped on a whim while passing by. He didn’t know the old Daoist had hidden everything because some truths were useless to know.
He knew only that the mortal world was vast, and he wanted to see it for himself.
Moonlight shines over Haitang; a dream drifts among the clouds.
In time, he forged his own path.
