In the 16th year of the Republic of China, 16-year-old Chen Adou made a living by pickpocketing at the pier. He accidentally stole the wallet of Asan, a black man from the Qinggang Gang. Inside was a secret list related to the huge stolen goods of foreigners in the concession. Overnight, the Green Gang pursued him, patrolled and surrounded him, and underground forces coveted him, creating a deadlock on both fronts.
In a desperate situation, Adou relies on his natural quick wit and smooth mouth to play with the police, betray the Qinggang, and deal with three women with different identities. He gradually grows from a chess piece on the chessboard to an "invisible middleman" who plays chess.
