Ma Qingde, code-named "Chessmaster," is a specially recruited "cleaner" for the National Security Bureau. He appears to be a carefree antique shop owner, but is actually an expert in hand-to-hand combat, explosives, psychological profiling, and multiple languages. Three years ago, he faked his death during an overseas operation and retired. Now he has been urgently called back into service.
Within 72 hours, under the watchful eyes of countless observers, he must escort Su Qingya, a top quantum physicist carrying crucial data and a key researcher on the "Eye of Heaven" project, from her laboratory to a safe house.
Ma Qingde knows Su Qingya is fiercely independent. Trying to force her to go along would only make her take her own life or fight back. He must become a "gentlemanly agent," using kindness and intelligence to break through Su Qingya's psychological defenses and make her willingly accept his protection.
