In October 1934, the Second and Sixth Red Army Corps met victoriously in Muhuang, Yinjiang, Guizhou.
Chiang Kai-shek quickly mobilized heavy troops to contain them. In order to support the Long March of the Central Red Army, the main forces of the two armies marched eastward and launched the Xiangxi Offensive.
In order to cover the unfolding of the strategy, part of the Sixth Red Army Corps was ordered to stay at Mount Fanjing to attract and block enemy troops.
For more than a month after that, this lone army fought bloody battles and suffered heavy casualties. Finally, they ran out of ammunition and food and dispersed to break through.
