A cliched story about two brothers.
[Short story] The main story has a happy ending; the extra chapter about “curing” homosexuality has a bad ending. [First person] The younger brother is the main love interest. Warning: he’s head over heels for his “brother.” Older man/younger man, both are each other’s first and only. Bittersweet, with some angst. Skin hunger. Apologies for the “marriage of convenience.”
Maybe you think these two falling in love makes no sense. The truth is, they were simply born to fall in love with each other. Maybe Kechuan suddenly “hating” his older brother makes no sense either, but growing up is hard for a kid, and it’s easy to get caught in a downward spiral.
The writing is conversational and emotional, and the plot is understated and meandering. After all, this is just a child venting as he grows up, bored and restless.
The following points will not be explored in the story:
(If you can keep reading, trust that the brothers’ family is very happy. Kechuan leaves out a lot of details, but if they weren’t happy, how could he have grown into such an adorable person? Maybe this is what a typical East Asian family is like: the love is real, and so are the pain and tears. They raise “rebellious sons” who can’t bear to leave home, and “good kids” who know how to please everyone, but never birds brave enough to fly away and be free. Neither brother is the kind to cut ties with their parents completely, nor do they need to. Their parents gave them lots of love, but also put them in plenty of shackles. It’s just like tying an elephant up with a thin rope.)
(I support everyone being a free bird! Some parents really aren’t worth missing! Be good to yourselves, darlings, and save your love for yourselves!)
“Sworn brothers, no blood relation, not on the same household register. Childhood friends who are like brothers. The older brother was adopted.”
Who’s lying? Yu is begging you.
