A 21-year-old translator from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs broke into the chaotic times of the late Qing Dynasty on the eve of the Sino-Japanese War of Sino-Japanese War. In 1894, the Korean Donghak Party uprising broke out. Japan was watching with eager eyes, the Beiyang Navy was bluffing, and the three pillars of Qingliu, Beiyang, and the imperial family were standing in the court. Lin Yuan, this modern young man who is proficient in three foreign languages and well versed in international public law, started out as a small translator at Tianjin Customs. He alarmed Li Hongzhang with a piece of "Strategy for War Against Japan" and thus participated in the Sino-Japanese War.
