Stars at Dusk, Sailing Toward the Evening

Showbiz + sweet romance + contract dating. The contract couple everyone online is shipping thought it was all for show, but it turns out one of them had been plotting this for a long time.

A cold, aloof award-winning actor × a clear-headed rising star. From a contract to falling for each other, from testing the waters to falling head over heels. It turns out you just can’t hide your feelings for someone.

The day we signed the “Couple Promotion Contract,” Zhou Xichen asked if I’d thought it through.

“Promoting ourselves as a couple means working together to play lovers in dramas, variety shows, interviews, and on the red carpet. If either of us breaches the contract...”

He pushed the terms toward me. “The penalty is eight figures.”

My hand didn’t even shake as I signed, Ran Xingwan.

So what if he was an award-winning actor? It was just acting. That was right up my alley.

After all, I was a professional actress, and he was an untouchable flower on a high peak.

The first one to fall would lose.

Until the night our six-month contract expired, when he cornered me in the parking garage, eyes bloodshot.

“The contract is void. I’ll pay the penalty.”

“Now, can you teach me...”

“How to stop acting like this is all just a drama?”

Ran Xingwan’s inner monologue:

If I’d known it would turn out like this six months later, I would’ve kept my distance on that rooftop.
