I'm Going Down the Mountain to Find a Wife, and the Whole Village Is Laughing

The protagonist, Zhang Ergou, was given a deliberately tacky name by his master because it was supposed to help him thrive. He grew up deep in the mountains with a half-mad old Taoist. Over the course of eighteen years, he learned all sorts of skills: gathering herbs, catching snakes, reading feng shui, treating rare illnesses, and even an inexplicable set of “Taiqing Health-Nurturing Fists.” Before sending him down the mountain, his master gave him half a jade pendant and a yellowed marriage contract, explaining that he had once saved a wealthy businessman and arranged a childhood betrothal. The man's daughter had just turned eighteen. After all his adventures in the mortal world, Zhang Ergou ultimately wins the heart of his destined beauty.
