Spring Flowers

On the Lantern Festival of the first year of Yongping, Jiang Chunhua, an orphan girl selling rice cakes, was burned. She was helped by Zhang He and Zhang Yuan, brothers and sisters of the Zhang family, and the three of them became friends. Zhang He fell in love with Chunhua, and promised to get married when he returned before joining the army. In order to meet Zhang's mother's condition of "five branches", Chunhua worked hard and opened three stores in three years. Unexpectedly, her aunt Wang was greedy for her property and colluded with outsiders to forcefully marry Chunhua. Zhang He returned to the capital in triumph, only to see Chunhua being kidnapped after killing someone to protect Zhang Yuan. When they chased him outside the capital, Chunhua had taken poison and died in his arms. She laughed and cursed: "Idiot." Zhang He went crazy on the spot. Sister Zhang Yuan took over "Spring Flowers and Autumn Moon" with tears in her eyes, taking care of her crazy brother while tracking down the real murderer. After more than ten years, the mastermind behind the incident was finally brought to justice. Zhang He died of illness in front of Chunhua's grave. Zhang Yuan bloomed "Spring Flowers and Autumn Moon" all over Kyoto until his old age, passing on this story about love, family affection and perseverance to the next generation. Forty years later, three graves stand side by side, bearing witness to a deep love that will never dissipate.
