Tears of Heartache in This Mortal World

Liu Li is a petite college student who gets tricked into going to H Province and marrying a divorced man twenty years her senior, with two children and barely a penny to his name. She ends up living a life most people could never imagine.

For the sake of the children, Liu Li endures the man's beatings. He's a drunk who hits her and her children whenever he comes home from drinking.

She has a kind heart. Wanting someone to care for both her own child and her husband's children, she bears the pain and shoulders the burden of the household, giving the children a warm home. She treats her husband's two children as if they were her own, giving them the best motherly love she can.

But fate has other plans. The man suffers a stroke because of his drinking, and Liu Li's life becomes even harder.

Every day, Liu Ming has to care for her husband and manage all the farm work at home. She is exhausted and aching all over, but for the sake of the children, she never complains.

Through her strength and hard work, Liu Li eventually helps the children build happy lives, and finally gets to live a normal life herself. Her business succeeds, too, helping her neighbors earn money. From then on, Liu Li becomes the villagers' favorite stepmother.
