[Pokemon + Urban Slice of Life + No Transmigration or System + Protagonist Is Ditto + Ensemble Cast + Lighthearted Comedy]
(Content warning: Almost no fighting. This is purely a lighthearted slice-of-life story.)
In an era when humans and Pokemon are completely equal, a Ditto named Xu An is facing the grim prospect of graduating straight into unemployment.
A special citizen studying sociology and psychology at Lumiose University, he is sprawled on a park bench contemplating life when he gets an overenthusiastic phone call. The caller introduces himself as Mr. Xiao, says he has just founded an emotional companionship rental company called “Companionship,” and earnestly invites Xu An to join.
The company’s current assets: two secondhand desks, a water dispenser still wrapped in plastic, and 20,000 yuan in working capital.
The boss: fifteen years old, with a high school education and marketing strategies that begin and end with “handing out flyers.” He can even forget to print clauses in a contract.
Staffing: just him.
When Xu An realizes he is not only an employee but also the part-time CFO, operations consultant, legal counsel, and tech support, the urge to run away grows wildly in his mind.
But when he sees the Meowscarada, whose ears are drooping after being scolded...
“Fine.”
And so, in this peaceful city, a two-person emotional companionship rental company opens its doors, stumbling all the way.
What kinds of clients will they meet? An elderly person longing to see a departed loved one, a young man who needs a pretend boyfriend to fend off pressure to marry, or a lonely soul who just wants someone to talk to?
This is a heartwarming story about companionship and growing up, and two rather unreliable people supporting each other and making a mess of things in an era of peace.
The author is quite imaginative, and this book has great potential so far.
