What you think is Heaven rewarding diligence is really just a feeder picking what to eat; what you think is a just and righteous Heaven is really just a butcher sharpening his knife.
Su Nianqing, Holy Maiden of the Tianxuan Sect, born with an innate Dao body, a genius rarely seen in ten thousand years. She was kind her whole life, helping the needy and rescuing those in danger. She had never harmed a soul.
Then they nailed her to the Immortal Execution Platform.
Beneath nine bolts of heavenly lightning, the junior brother she had once saved cheered, the beggar she had once helped spat at her, and the master she had revered as a father lowered his head, afraid to look at her.
After the eighth bolt, she summoned the last of her strength to ask Heaven, "Why? I spent my whole life doing good and never harmed anyone. Why won't Heaven tolerate me?"
The sky split open.
An ancient, greedy voice rang directly in the depths of her soul:
"Because goodness is my finest food. Child, thank you. In the past thirty thousand years, you are the sweetest thing I've ever eaten."
Only then did she understand: the so-called Heavenly Dao was nothing but a monster called Xu, parasitizing the world. The good were its food, while the wicked were its shepherds. Her 120 years of kindness had merely made her fatter, sweeter, and more delicious.
The ninth bolt of heavenly lightning fell.
But in the instant before she was devoured, she smiled.
With the last of her soul's strength, she spoke to the void:
"You'll regret this. Because the sweetest food is often... poisonous."
The way of heaven in many immortal writings is cloaked in the guise of order, law, and righteousness, but is essentially the top parasite. It maintains its existence by relying on the faith, cultivation, longevity, and soul of all things. Mortals seek peace, monks seek ascension, and demons seek enlightenment, all by supplying blood to it. It makes rules, divides levels, and brings blessings and disasters, not for balance, but for better control of "rations." Whoever is strong will be suppressed, whoever is weak will be harvested, those who go along with it will be given some scraps, and those who go against it will be directly obliterated. It never contributes, it only sits back and enjoys the results; it does not care about justice, it only cares about survival. The world regards it as a god, and it regards all living beings as pigs and sheep. Only by exposing this layer can we understand: resisting the way of heaven is not going against heaven, but seeking survival.
