Legend has it that on the first day of July every year, the underworld's ghost gate opens wide, allowing countless ownerless souls to return to the human world and enjoy human blood and food. They do not return until the ghost gate closes at the end of July. On the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month, the Ghost Festival is the day when the Yin Qi is at its peak. Hundreds of ghosts walk at night, and the boundary between the Yang world and the underworld is as thin as cicada wings on this night.
