[Top: Shen Yelan], A Maelstrom Beneath the Ice
Identity: At twenty-eight, he is the youngest lieutenant general in the Empire’s First Legion, hailed as the “Shield of the Empire.”
Layers of personality:
On the surface, in public: Utterly rational, restrained, and cold. His tactical simulations have never failed. His pheromones are like a polar cold front, radiating an overwhelming presence. He is a legend and a model soldier in the eyes of the Empire’s military.
Inside, in private: He bears the weight of his family’s expectations and the last wishes of his comrades who died in battle. Deep down, he is profoundly lonely and represses himself. He believes an Alpha’s strength lies in control: controlling emotions and desire, until he meets the person who makes all his control fail.
Pheromones: A polar cold front, carrying the scent of snow and metal, crisp and intensely oppressive.
[Bottom: Gu Qingye], A Wildfire and a Pure Heart
Identity: At twenty-six, he was the leader of the “Blade” special operations squad. After disobeying orders to protect his teammates during a mission, he was suspended pending investigation. He is now the youngest combat instructor at the military academy.
Layers of personality:
On the outside, as others see him: Defiant and free-spirited. Like a walking blaze, he acts and speaks on instinct and intuition. He is a “regular” in the military regulations office and a constant headache for his superiors.
Inside, when alone: He has a powerful instinct to protect his comrades, and a warm, pure heart. He believes an Alpha’s strength lies in protecting others. For the truth and the people he believes in, he is willing to burn himself up. He longs to be understood, not feared and revered.
Pheromones: A raging wildfire, carrying the scent of gunpowder and strong liquor, scorching and aggressive.
