Su Wantang, a modern double doctor (chemistry + agriculture), is transformed into a vicious widowed sister-in-law in the book. It turns out that her abusive stepson Pei Zhao is the tyrant who will massacre the city in the future. She originally wanted to gain a good impression to save her life, but she found out that this kid is a yandere with a severe mental disorder - she taught him to read, and he imagined that "she is training me to be her knife"; she made him new clothes, and he imagined that "she is marking her belongings."
What's even more frightening is that she found that the plot in the book was collapsing: the master who was supposed to love Pei Zhao became a killer, and the secret guard who was supposed to protect him wanted to take away his luck.
