Thirty years ago, a disaster known as “Rayquaza’s Wrath” swept across the globe. A Legendary Pokémon went berserk, triggering a chain reaction: weather systems collapsed, tectonic plates shifted, and sea levels rose. Human civilization nearly perished.
After the disaster, the world was reduced to fragments:
· Old cities sank beneath the sea. Only the tips of skyscrapers remained above the water, forming what people call the “Graveyard of Tombstones.”
· The continents were divided into countless “floating islands,” separated by the treacherous “Chaos Sea,” where mutated aquatic Pokemon roam.
· The weather turned extreme: some regions are locked in endless daylight, others in eternal darkness, while some are covered by perpetual storms.
· Pokemon behavior changed. Wild Pokemon became more ferocious, and bonds between Trainers and Pokemon could no longer be taken for granted. They now require genuine “resonance.”
Shen Jin is one of the “new generation,” born after the cataclysm. He has never seen the civilization of the old world, and has lived only among ruins and legends.
· He has no Pokemon. In this world, that leaves him practically useless.
· Cold and taciturn, he is used to acting alone. It isn’t that he doesn’t care; he simply doesn’t dare form connections. In the post-cataclysm world, loss is the norm.
· His one obsession is finding the legendary “Forest of Origin,” said to be the only place untouched by the disaster, where Pokemon and humans can still coexist as they did in the old world.
He has an ability known as “Ashen Vision.” When his emotions reach extremes, he can see fragments of a Pokemon’s memories and witness the pain, fear, or loyalty it has experienced.
This is no blessing. Every time he uses it, he suffers the full impact of the Pokemon’s emotions.
