Sky Screen: Short Videos Turn the Whole World Upside Down

Lin Feng had no idea when he woke up that every Chinese daily-life short video he casually scrolled past was being forcibly projected onto the sky screen, broadcast live for billions of people around the world to watch! When he came across a Northeastern vegetable market, with fresh vegetables selling for just a few cents per pound and affordable, generous portions of meat, eggs, poultry, and milk, foreigners accustomed to exorbitantly priced groceries were left dumbfounded: “Those prices can’t be real, can they? What we spend on groceries in a week would feed them for a month!” When he came across the vegetable basket program and saw how the country had spent decades keeping prices stable and supplies steady, all so ordinary people could afford fresh vegetables at every meal, netizens around the globe grew insanely envious: “There’s actually a government willing to spend decades looking after ordinary people’s dinner tables?!” When he came across Chinese healthcare, with low-cost, efficient treatment, convenient walk-in appointments, and free nationwide health checkups, foreigners driven to despair by sky-high medical bills cried out in shock: “This is what true compassion from doctors looks like! Our hospitals only care about money, but they’re protecting lives!” Affordable prices, dependable education, public safety, robust public services, a social safety net... Every video shattered foreigners’ preconceived notions. Every scene humiliated the self-proclaimed developed Western world. Some cried out in despair, some burned with envy, and some completely lost it. Others gazed reverently toward the East and sighed: “This isn’t a country on Earth. It’s a true Eastern paradise!” Meanwhile, Lin Feng, the one who had started it all, still casually scrolled through short videos every day, completely unaware. All it took was a light tap of his finger, and the whole world would lose it and erupt on the spot!
