"Color of Stars" is a short story written by the American novelist Lovecraft. It tells the story of a hydrogeographer who came to a barren wasteland on the outskirts of Arkham to survey a reservoir.
The locals call it the "blighted wasteland" and no one dares to approach it. He found the only survivor on the edge of the ruins - a crazy old man. The old man talked intermittently about fifty years ago: a meteorite fell on the land of farmer Gardner's family, releasing a color that did not belong to this world. It seeps into the soil and well water, causing plants to grow wildly and distorted, livestock to give birth to monsters, and bit by bit devouring the body and mind of the Gardner family.
When the scholar asked about the whereabouts of the color, the old man pointed to the old well in the center of the wasteland and whispered: "It's still lit." And that well is still in the dark, flashing a strange light.
