Seven years ago, Lin Zhi died in that well. Seven years later, Yan Wuming received a letter from her: "The twentieth day of the twelfth lunar month, don't forget it."
On the nineteenth day of the twelfth lunar month, fog locked the mountains.
Yan Wuming stepped on the slippery bluestone road and walked into the village surrounded by seven mountains again - Jingcun. Seven years ago, his girlfriend Lin Zhi disappeared here, and her last figure was fixed beside the ancient well. Seven years later, an unmarked letter called him back, in her handwriting.
There was something staring at him in the old tree hole at the entrance of the village. Eight characters are engraved on the edge of the well: "Fetch water at midnight, and don't go back at midnight." Lin Zhi's mother sits in the yard every day, choosing vegetables, and says to the empty courtyard door: "Xiao Zhi went out to visit, and will be back soon."
And the man who came up from the bottom of the well told him: The reincarnation period starts tomorrow. Forty-nine days, seven rounds. Each round lasts seven days. At the end of each round, someone will die and someone will live.
When he woke up the next day, Lin Zhi was standing in front of him.
Wearing a floral skirt, smiling, warm and lively.
"I'm back," she said.
What he doesn't know is
Trapped at the bottom of this well are seven children who were pushed in seventy-six years ago. They had been waiting for someone to take them out.
Lin Zhi died for him.
And his shadow has been waiting for him at the bottom of the well for seventy-six years.
