The System was even more anxious than I was.
On my first day after transmigrating, it popped out of the interface, plump and white, dressed in a red robe. “Hello, Host! Your beginner’s mission is to earn 100 Star Coins in 24 hours. Otherwise, this little guy will be recalled before he’s even settled into the job!”
I stared at it for three seconds. “Fine. I’ll help you earn them.”
Then I found a man in a trash heap.
He was filthy from head to toe and grabbed my ankle. “Save me, and I’ll pay you.”
“Do you have money?”
“Not on me, but I have some at home.”
I dragged him back with me.
The System fretted in circles. “Host! What if he’s a con artist?”
“Con me out of what? My person or my money?”
The System paused, then got even more anxious. “That’s even worse!”
Later, I found out that the man really was rich. He was great with numbers and could spot mistakes in my account book at a glance.
Later still, I realized he seemed to like me. He stuck to me every day, cooked for me, brought me flowers, and didn’t even get mad when the System roasted him.
And later than that, I realized he really did want to marry me. He proposed three times, got rejected twice, and was still on his knees.
The System was so anxious its hair turned white, if it had any. “Host, just say yes already!”
Without even looking up, I said, “Let him kneel one more time.”
The System shattered on the spot.
Outside the door, someone quietly pulled out a little notebook: What should I prepare for my fourth proposal?

A fortune-teller said tragic romance doesn’t suit my destiny, so this is pure sweetness with no angst. Thanks!
