Rewind to 2000: Restarting the Game of Life

Lin Yue, a forty-year-old delivery driver, was on the brink of death after a car accident on a stormy night when a mysterious System forcibly bound itself to him. Carrying a lifetime of exhaustion and regrets, he was reborn on a university campus in the year 2000.

The System, called “Trendsetter of the Times,” promised to help him seize opportunities and reach the pinnacle of life. Completing missions would earn him money, attributes, and skills, and even let him change his family’s fate, such as saving his younger sister, who would die of kidney failure a few years later.

But Lin Yue soon discovered that the System’s rewards came at a cold, cruel price. Every seemingly easy shortcut required him to climb over someone else: stealing a classmate’s idea, snatching a friend’s opportunity, or crushing a future “loser.” If he refused a mission, the System would strip away his most precious memories and even make his sister’s illness grow worse.

On one side lay easily obtained wealth and his sister’s life; on the other stood his conscience and the fate of strangers. At the crossroads of the new millennium, this middle-aged man, who had struggled at the bottom of society for twenty years, faced the cold blue screen and made a choice unlike that of any other System-novel protagonist.

He would not be a puppet of fate, nor the System’s villain.

In this turbulent age, he would rewrite everyone’s ending in his own way.

Even if it meant becoming the System’s enemy, even if the road ahead was full of thorns.

This is the story of an ordinary man who holds fast to his principles and defies fate in a game forced upon him. When temptation and conscience clash, will you choose to be a winner, or to be yourself?
