Writers of the Republic of China

The writing is very good. Although it is boring and complicated in some places and a little brief in others, the whole text is full of flesh and blood, has character, has forward movement, has people, poems, stories, and fireworks. It is quite good. It's like reading an old article. You need to slow down your mind and eyes, read and think about it. People who are used to a fast pace should watch slowly. The simplicity in some places needs to be filled in to make it fuller, and the complicated parts should be streamlined. There is no need to say important things three times, or even multiple times. I have now read the second volume of Chen Qingcheng's return to Shanghai from a small gathering in Lushan. I am looking forward to the subsequent development of the story and the third volume. I will read it slowly.

I have never read such a classic novel of the Republic of China, so down-to-earth, and so unpretentious. I feel that the author wanted to write something with an interesting subject matter. He wanted to write about a witness of history who was born and entered the world, but he failed to write a good story. The starting point is a novel about traveling back in time to ancient times and witnessing history in multiple dynasties. That book is well written and the story is complete.
