Jiangnan's Brush and Ink

Literary Contest: Reflections on Mountains, Rivers, and History

[Cultural Cunning + Historical Adventure]

Around the Battle of Shanghai, precious ancient books kept for generations in the libraries of Jiangnan were either destroyed in the flames of war or scattered through the streets.

A swindling dealer in ancient books, a university professor with both a swordsman's courage and a musician's heart, a gambling-addicted monk, an impoverished Taoist priest, an expert in the formats of ancient books... At a dark hour for the splendor of Chinese civilization, they quietly but resolutely wage a cultural resistance without gunfire.

War is fought over more than just flesh and blood, mountains and rivers.
