Stubborn and conflicted × steady and mature
Song Qi was brought to the Guan family by Guan Linzhong when he was fifteen.
Who in the capital didn’t know the Guan family? For years, they had commanded the winds of change in the capital, carving out a place of their own amid the soaring CBD towers.
“Mr. Guan,” Song Qi said. “That’s what everyone calls you. I don’t suppose it matters if I do too.”
The man sat on the sofa without a word, but displeasure was already visible in his eyes and brows.
“You’re good at getting your way. One word from you, and every path I could take is cut off.” Song Qi let out a cold laugh, as if conceding. “Thank you for making me sharper. I went abroad, just as you wanted.”
Three or four years passed in a flash. Song Qi returned to Suzhou and became a designer. While out for a business meeting, he ran into Guan Linzhong.
The years apart felt like another lifetime.
“What gives you the right to be with him?” Guan Linzhong’s eyes were almost bloodshot. “Have I treated you badly?”
Song Qi freed himself from his restraint and met his gaze. “Long time no see, Mr. Guan.”
