The White-Robed Gu Doctor: After the Broken Engagement, the Miao Maiden Brings Her Back to Life

The White-Clad Healer: The Disowned Bride Tears Apart a Small Town’s Lies

In the 1980s, on China’s southwestern frontier, she was branded a woman whose fate would bring her husband doom.

Publicly rejected at her engagement banquet, she was later slandered as a husband-killing witch after the Zhao family died suddenly.

The villagers cursed her, and the clan chief drove her out. Wearing a tattered wedding dress, Lin Wan fled into the mountain Miao village everyone feared.

Three years later, the town’s richest man sought a bride to bring him good fortune, and a red coffin opened by itself in the dead of night.

A woman in white returned beneath the moon. A silver needle at her fingertips saved lives, while medicinal gu in her sleeve worked unseen.

Poison in the well, a widow drowned in a pond, girls disappearing one after another… She examined bones and identified strange poisons, carefully navigating the web of patriarchy.

At last, she burned the wedding dress that symbolized her humiliation and sneered before the ancestral hall:

“They say I bring death to husbands? Then I’ll bring death to it all, ”

“I’ll destroy the rules that devour people, shatter the chains that sell women, and awaken this benighted town!”

From a disowned girl to a master of both medicine and gu, she vindicated herself with her healing skills and punished evil with her gu.

She had no golden finger, only a mortal body with which to tear open the darkness of a corrupt, decaying world.

Later, word spread throughout the southwest:

Deep in the mountains lived a woman dressed in white. She wasn’t a demon, but a light guiding women toward a better future.
