Content warning: This story has a System and a one-on-one romance. The heroine has a golden finger, and it's a seriously powerful one. The dynasty is fictional, and there's a little bit of child-rearing. The male lead doesn't get that much page time!
After a natural disaster, Mu Xue transmigrates with her luxurious RV to the turbulent Great Yan Dynasty, a fictional realm. The System saves her, but it's a tiny-legged, extremely greedy little thing. Just when she thinks she can finally get on with her life, the baby-faced System tells her she owes it a fortune!
Mu Xue comes across a four-year-old girl. The child clings nervously to her trouser leg, afraid she'll be abandoned. She rushes to do the work and barely dares to speak, until one day a maid points at Mu Xue and calls her a "stable boy." The girl instantly turns cold and says, "A maid like this should have her tongue pulled out and be sent to the estate!"
Only then does Mu Xue realize the child isn't some ordinary poor little thing.
A man, armed and surrounded by followers, radiating a murderous aura, dismounts. His first words are:
"Innkeeper, have you seen a four-year-old girl?"
Mu Xue looks down at the little hand gripping her sleeve.
The girl looks up at her, eyes red, but doesn't say a word.
"Haven't seen her. This is my little brother, four years old, and he's been here the whole time."
Mu Xue's inn expands from the wilderness to the main road, then to bustling Kyoto. Before long, she realizes the girl's eldest brother could be taken in too...
It's nice to read. The author's business writing is really good.
