While tending the soup at the Bridge of Helplessness, Meng Zhao slipped and fell into the mortal world, where she was saved by Lu Yan, a sickly rich second-generation heir. For some reason, Meng Zhao lost contact with the Underworld and had no choice but to stay among the living. After a year together, the two fell in love. But then the Underworld summoned Meng Zhao back, and Lu Yan had reached the end of his lifespan. Just as they thought the lovers would finally be reunited, they learned that Lu Yan was actually the King of the Underworld, experiencing a mortal tribulation. In the great hall, the cold and heartless King of the Underworld showed no affection at all, and even planned to punish Meng Zhao for disrupting his cultivation.

Meng Zhao: Then I'm leaving! There's no reason to stay in this Underworld. I'm going back to the mortal world to enjoy myself.

Judge: Your Majesty, something terrible has happened! Granny Meng has gone to the mortal world to fall in love!

King of the Underworld Shen Yuan: Don't worry. That person is me, too.
