High Martial: I Can See the Cost Every Time I Strike

[High martial arts + urban disaster + underdog triumph in the martial arts exam + power at a price + two female leads + passionate defense]

Seventy-two years ago, the Gray Gates appeared, strange beasts invaded, and humanity entered the era of high martial arts.

In this world, power has never come free.

Some break their bones training in martial arts. Others shorten their lives to break through. Some win a battle, only to make innocent people pay the bill.

Lin Jin, a lowborn martial arts exam candidate, used to be the cheapest sparring partner at a boxing gym. Then, during a brush with death, he discovered that before every strike, he could see the price of that punch.

Defeat the Qin family’s prodigy, and the price is a fractured right arm.

Save Su Wan, and the price is attracting the attention of hidden forces.

Kill his enemy, and the price is dragging everyone around him into an abyss.

Others only care about winning or losing when they strike. Lin Jin checks the bill first.

From the martial arts exam in Red Sand City to Star Torch Academy; from the Gray Gate rifts to the battlefield of the myriad races; from low-grade damage-transfer talismans to the ledger of all living beings.

Lin Jin climbs upward through blood and fire, only to discover that the truly terrifying ones aren’t the strange beasts, but the people who sell “victory” to the gifted and make ordinary folk pay the price.

Su Wan saves lives with her green lantern, while Jiang Jian Yue uses her Night-Illuminating Sword to sever the threads of cause and effect.

And Lin Jin’s task is to smash that lofty ledger to pieces.

“There can be a price in this world.”

“But you don’t get to put a price on everyone else’s lives.”
