The four heroes of the early Tang Dynasty pioneered the trend, Meng Haoran and Wang Wei expressed their love for the landscape, Wang Changling, Gao Shi, and Cen Shen wrote about the heroic sentiments of the frontier; Han Liu led the innovation of ancient literature, Ou Wang supported the literary world of the Northern Song Dynasty, Lu You adhered to the original intention of patriotism, and the Yan family, Qin Guan, and Huang Tingjian each took the lead. Eighteen literati, some mighty or smooth, some bold or graceful, all used pen and ink to express their feelings and build their character, and together they painted a splendid scroll of literature of the Tang and Song Dynasties, becoming an immortal spiritual benchmark for future generations.
