"The Third River"
Lin Shen, secretary of the county party committee who came from a poor family, landed in Qingyun County to inherit the "legacy" of his mentor Chen Mo, only to find that the legacy was an encrypted diary, a cold corpse, and a violent system packaged with "zero petitions, zero accidents, and zero detention."
From the word "Rong Fa" on the Swiss Army knife to the 3.7 Million ledger in the cellar; from the scene of Old Man Zhou's fall to the ruins of Old Mrs. Ma's self-immolation; from Zhao Tiejun's "rarely confused" admonition to Chen Mo's swapped medicine bottle - in the torn between power and conscience, Lin Shen finally chose to report in a self-destructive manner, becoming a "traitor" of the system and a "witness" to the truth.
This is not a heroic narrative of anti-corruption victory, but a long testimony of how a person finds a third way besides "becoming Chen Mo" and "fighting Chen Mo". When all procedures were completed and all judgments were made, Lin Shen and investigative reporter Su Wanqing were fishing by the river in Qingping Town, and finally understood: the third road has never been found, but the search itself is the road.
The river continues to flow, carrying all the silt, corpses and failures with it, towards places that cannot yet be seen. And the story continues.
