The Dead Return: Alone on an Endless Road

Jun Moyuan and Su Qianxue. Their first cries were a call to the hunt.

A cold winter night in the year 72136 of the Xuanhuang Calendar, on Xuangu Star.

Two babies were born, one after the other. Their cries were bound fast to an ancient curse that had encircled the stars for seven thousand three hundred years: the “Ring of Eternal Tribulation.”

This was no blessing. It was a signal.

That night, the hunters in the darkness opened their eyes. Those who coveted the curse’s power and those who feared its truth stirred into action. The hunt began the moment the infants drew their first breaths.

They were “keys,” “vessels,” children of destiny who, according to prophecy, might either end a catastrophe or set it ablaze anew. One might bear the strongest curse; the other might inherit the most ancient oath of protection. But whatever the future held, survival was the first and only right they had to win.

From swaddling clothes to the wilderness, from innocence to awakening. Every step they took in growing up brought them across their pursuers’ blades; every breath might give away their whereabouts. On Xuangu Star, where the immortal path had fallen into decline and countless races contended for power, strength was first and foremost a shackle that invited death.

This was a tragic flight from death, fated from the moment they were born.

Surrounded by the boundless sea of stars, cold murderous intent, and the crushing siege of destiny, how would they hide? How would they grow stronger? And in this world consumed by “Eternal Silence,” how would they find each other, or... face one another?

Saviors, or destroyers?

Hunters, or prey?

The story begins in earnest with this eternal hunt, born of a cry at birth.
