In 1995, Li Tiezhu, a young man from the northeastern countryside, failed the college entrance examination. In order not to let his parents borrow money from others, he gave up repeating his studies and decided to make a way out with his hands. In the late winter of 1995, he left his hometown, boarded the train going south, and entered the Southern Ceramics Factory as an apprentice.
